The mystery photo last week was actually the pavement on shore road....not very exciting until you know what was attached to it 70+ years ago as can be seen in the photo above. (courtesy of David Haysom at the Swanage Museum).There were about 240 of these "Dragon's teeth" along the shore line of Swanage, some can still be seen piled up near the pier.
So next time you are out for a walk have a look for the reinforcing rods still in the pavements - but a word of advice.....mind the edge!
