Just noticed that later this evening on BBC Parliament (Freeview ch81) is the critically acclaimed "Coastguard Committee"; recorded highlights of the transport select committee's session on the coastguard restructure from 24 May.
Essential Sunday evening viewing...!

How embarrassing for the RNLI - The operations director was appalling...and clearly had no idea how the transport select committee works - which is amazing considering he said he attended the committee 10 years ago as well ! Incredible !

Having originally posted the blog slightly tongue in cheek, it actually turned out to be an interesting insight as to how these things work.

I have to admit I havent see the programme, however Im not sure the RNLI were involved in the debate? The Coastguard and RNLI are totally seperate, the Coastguard being a Governement Agency and the RNLI a charity and a declared facility to HM Coastguard.
