Incident at Peveril Point

A 71 year old male on a day trip to Swanage from New Milton tripped ,  stumbled then fell off the  cliff  falling about 35/40 feet at Peveril Point today.

Observed by a member of the public who acted fast and called the Coastguard and Ambulance the emergency services responded immediately.

The Swanage Coastguard team , Coastguard helicopter Rescue 175 , South Western Ambulance, St Albans Coastguard, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Dorset Police coordinated a rescue of the male who had fallen and suffered a serious head injury.


The male was treated by Paramedics , Air Ambulance Doctor and Coastguard team members 

The Coastguard helicopter was used to airlift the casualty to a land ambulance before being taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.
Rescue 175 was on a training flight when diverted to Swanage to assist in the rescue. 

The member of public acted very quickly dialling 999 and raising the alarm,

A large scale incident with all the services working together

Thank you to all those who help people in time of need. It is frightening to think that most of those turning out today are volunteers who often put their lives at risk to help others. Brilliant job!
