Ordnance located

Yesterday colleagues from St Albans Coastguard were called to Chapmans Pool after a member of the public located some possible grenades on the beach.

Whether the recent cliff falls had uncovered them or they washed in the items required the attendance of a bomb disposal team.

This morning a Royal Navy team were tasked from Portsmouth to Chapmans Pool with St Albans Coastguard and also Swanage Coastguard.

The Team assessed the items and due to their condition they decided to detonate them on the beach.  With Coastguards providing a cordon the items were cleared.

Coastguard’s at Chapmans Pool which has suffered badly from recent cliff falls in the bad weather.
